Welcome to the second edition of DNSimple's Feature Focus! The team here at DNSimple has been hard at work rolling out multiple enhancements, improvements, and innovations to continue securing and simplifying your DNS management — including free WHOIS privacy and our new Integrated DNS Providers.

We'll take a quick look at what we've improved, simplified, and added. Click the links in any of the sections below to learn more about each feature. If you're not using DNSimple yet, find the right plan for you and give all these features and more a try free for 30 days.

Free WHOIS privacy with automatic renewal

Enjoy free, uninterrupted protection for your personal information without needing to remember to renew or dealing with confusing expiration emails. All domains that support WHOIS privacy and have been migrated to our new provider have access to free WHOIS privacy and automatic WHOIS privacy renewal.

To enable WHOIS privacy protection for your domains, just visit your domain page and follow the instructions provided. With auto renewal enabled, you'll never be asked to purchase or renew WHOIS privacy at DNSimple again.

Manage your AWS Route 53 in DNSimple

Enterprises need to be able to see and manage DNS across cloud DNS vendors, and operate authoritative DNS inside and outside corporate firewalls. We created Integrated DNS Providers to address this need, and added AWS Route 53 as the first provider.

Now you can manage zones that are in DNSimple, Route 53, or both — all from DNSimple's web interface. We'll be rolling out more providers in the future, so stay tuned. Have one you'd like to see us add? Let us know.

Register and manage domains with Terraform

Our latest Terraform provider release lets you manage your domain registration with the dnsimple_registered_domain resource. Now, using DNSimple's Terraform provider you can set up and manage everything domain-related in Terraform — registration, SSL certificates, records, email forwarding delegation, and more.

And you don't need to worry about accidentally deleting your domains. We designed this resource to ensure if you delete the dnsimple_registered_domain resource, it will not affect your domains or their configuration in any way — it just removes the ability to manage the domain registration through Terraform.

Improved DNS Record Editor

Our new UI improvements, better validation, and improved error handling bring you even easier DNS management with less room for error.

DNSimple's improved DNS record editor includes form elements (dropdowns and radio buttons), along with error message enhancements and a new simple content editor. These updates mean you can enter DNS record content more easily, avoid errors, and fix issues faster if something goes wrong.

Learn about Policy as Code

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is a modern approach to managing and provisioning IT infrastructure. It provides a systematic, version-controlled, and automated way to define, deploy, and maintain infrastructure components. Policy as Code (PaC) is an extension of IaC, which focuses on enforcing policies, rules, and guidelines on infrastructure resources.

By integrating Sentinel policies with DNSimple's Terraform provider, organizations can enforce their domain management rules and guidelines, ensuring secure, compliant domain management. Follow along step-by-step through integrating DNSimple with Sentinel with our guide to executing Policy as Code.

I break things so Simone continues to have plenty to do. I occasionally have useful ideas, like building a domain and DNS provider that doesn't suck.

We think domain management should be easy.
That's why we continue building DNSimple.
